This is crazy cool. It is actually referenced by the first laptop patent ever (the one that Bill Mogridge is on in any case D280511)

Anyway I love the idea of a flute case computer!

  1. This boxy, but lovely computer reminds me of one we used to own, a compaq portable III, and it wasn't until i was older that i realised you could fold up the key board and tote the entire thing around...that meant portable digger and Karateka!

  2. I really like the idea of exploring different folding metaphors and I think this patent sort of does.

    When I was young we had NeXT computers. They are super lovely and wonderful however due to the design of the case and printer and other things it was always hard for me to know exactly what was happening with the physical presence of the computer. It had a bunch of rings that looked like the layers of a concertina and for a number of years I could not tell if they moved or not. Now I know, they did not :-/
